This year’s annual South Whidbey Schools Foundation gala will be held at Useless Bay Golf and Country Club on Saturday, April 26 at 5 p.m. This year’s theme is Prom. The Gala raises funds for classroom grants to help ignite a love of learning and enhance the educational process.
Music will include the South Whidbey High School Show Chorus under the direction of Paula Ludtke will entertain the crowd as a sit-down dinner of braised spare ribs, spring vegetable risotto, or blackened snapper is served.
SWSF Board President Shelly Ackerman will introduce keynote speaker Valerie Heggenes, a South Whidbey High School teacher who will speak on the effects that Foundation classroom grants have had on her students.
High School English teacher Justin Silva will again emcee a lively after-dinner auction.
A ‘raise the paddle’ bidding will round out the evening with funds raised for the school volunteer coordinator position; History, Humanities, Social Studies and Language Arts; Special Education; Social Emotional Learning; Science, Math, Engineering, and Technology (STEM); Arts, Music, Drama; and an Igniting Learning general fund.
