BUY TICKETS NOW FOR THE 2024 SWSF ANNUAL GALA ON FRIDAY, MAY 3

It’s time to purchase your tickets to attend the fabulous Schools Foundation Gala Dinner on Friday, May 3. This year’s venue is Useless Bay Golf & Country Club off State Highway 525.

Last year’s event sold out, so please purchase your tickets early.

The theme of this year’s gala is “Igniting A Love of Learning” and features SW Elementary Principal Susie Richards as keynote speaker. She brings a unique perspective gained from a variety of roles over the decades as a South Whidbey Schools alumna, a parent, volunteer, teacher, SWS Foundation Board member, and principal. She will share her observations from each of these roles and how schools are addressing ever-growing educational needs.

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with a social hour, music from South Whidbey Middle School Jazz Band students, songs by the SWHS Show Choir, and recaps of the Foundation’s classroom grants.

After a sit-down dinner featuring flank steak, roasted salmon and pasta primavera, the ever-popular ‘dessert dash’ will once again be held.

SWHS teacher Justin Silva will emcee a spirited live auction, followed by a ‘raise the paddle’ to support specific academic areas. Silva was last year’s recipient of the Foundation’s Mentorship Award for Excellence in Teaching and is the Schools Foundation’s newest Board member.

This event is for everyone who wishes to help fund innovative, teacher-requested classroom grants that promote educational excellence. Tickets are $100 and include two tickets for the wine bar.

Table sponsorships are available for $700 (seating 8 people) and are a great way to show your support of our public schools.

We thank Heritage/Whidbey Island Bank, Convergence Business Partners, and Trinity Lutheran Church for being Falcon Level sponsors, and Lisa Leonard of Keller Williams Realty, for being a Cougar Level sponsor.

Come join us! We’re looking to add members to our South Whidbey Schools Foundation Board.

If you would like to help support our local public schools, we invite you to learn more about us. We usually meet once a month on a Saturday morning at the South Whidbey Community Center.

Board members serve three-year terms and help plan and produce two to three community outreach events a year. We laugh a lot, love being positively productive, and take satisfaction in rolling up our sleeves and getting a task done. Best of all, we make a difference in the lives of students in the South Whidbey School District.  Contact Shelly Ackerman, our Board President at [email protected] for more information.

Thank you to Whidbey Telecom for providing a discount for the Schools Foundation’s voicemail services. We appreciate the support!
